Often clients tell me they feel they have a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other. The angel is telling them to stop eating the unhealthy food, to reduce their portion size, cut out that glass of wine and so on. But the devil rears its head and tells them otherwise! It ruins their plans, encourages them to eat unhealthy foods and then makes them feel so guilty about it! This is where hypnotherapy can help. That ‘devil’ is your subconscious mind playing havoc with your plans! What do I mean by this? Well, your mind is made up of your conscious mind and your subconscious mind.
Conscious versus subconscious behaviour
Your conscious mind is the thinking, logical part of your mind – the part that plans, analyses and sets goals (the part that says “I know I shouldn’t have that family size bar of Dairy Milk, it will make me put on weight”). Your subconscious mind is the part of your mind that stores all your beliefs, habits and learned behaviours – many of which you’re not even aware of. It is this part of the mind that relies on your past experiences, skewed judgements and fears to convince you into things that aren’t true (“it’s no point trying to lose weight, I’m big-boned, I’ll never be thin”, "I need that glass of wine to de-stress"). It’s this part of the mind that we talk to in hypnotherapy. Our aim is to ‘re-programme’ the old patterns and behaviours that are getting in the way of your goals.

So how would it feel to actually be in control of your eating? To be able to shut that devil on your shoulder up? To feel that you’re not missing out but still managing your weight? To be your ideal size and shape and have the energy and confidence to go with it?
My weight loss sessions involve a programme of sessions tailored to suit your unique circumstances, addressing some of the pitfalls, temptations and thought processes that are getting in your way. I won’t tell you WHAT you can eat (you probably already have a pretty good idea of this) but I will help you to look at how and why you are eating and re-programme your subconscious mind to get that devil off your shoulder for good.
And if it's simply a habit you want to break (drinking a glass of wine every night for example) I can help you overcome that habit and it may just take a couple of sessions.
